Continuing our theme of anthologies, we will be discussing the first volume of the popular Sword and Sorceress series, edited by Marion Zimmer Bradley. At a time when there were virtually no strong female protagonists in the field of F&SF, MZB decided to put together this collection of stories where the women were more than just damsels in distress, or arm-candy for some brawny hero. Many well-known authors got their start with this anthology series.
