fifthseason
The October meeting will be held at 8pm on October 7th, at our usual location at 1245 Allegheny Drive. Check the Directions tab for a map. For October we will be reading the winner of the 2016 Hugo Award for Best Novel, The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin. This book was also nominated for the Nebula Award in 2015, and the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel in 2016. It is the first book of a series, and has garnered some excellent reviews.

From GoodReads:

This is the way the world ends… for the last time. A season of endings has begun.
It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world’s sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun.
It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter.
It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester.
This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Mem has several copies of the book available at her house. Contact her at the number on the directions page to arrange a time to pick up a copy.
